New Work
There’s always a few projects I’ve got knocking around in my head, occasionally they come good. The newest one is playing around with pure light & colour. Trying to capture the dance floor, the reflections, shapes & saturation of lights.
At the moment they are just little ones, disco balls & small bits of text that work as nuggets of overheard words between the beats of the music but are also song lyrics. I am hoping to work these up into larger pieces, merging everything together more. Who knows.
About the Artist
Kate Brinkworth is a British artist based in central England.
Since graduating in 2000 her colourful depictions of dice, cocktails & black & white film stills have been exhibited in many UK galleries as well as the US, Sweden & Paris.
Her work centres on the allure of colour & light, the seductive appeal of vice & the hypnotic language of film.
Kate’s work features in many private collections including Coca-Cola, Penske & Experian. She has collaborated with Supreme & Purling London & she works with Winsor & Newton delivering workshops, lectures & materials.
Latest
These two paintings are my latest works, the first one ‘The Frontier’ is a little darker than I normally do but I loved the contrast between the deep tones & the gold of the playing cards.
The second painting ‘Hard Rock Motel’ is the first larger scale one that I have done including a disco ball. The theme is more suggestive of a night out, the lights & colours a little more neon, the text on the dice inviting you in.
They were both included in the recent ’Summer Daze’ exhibition at the Maddox Gallery spanning their two galleries in Mayfair & Notting Hill.
